Cataloging @ UWCSEA East: Finnish books

Cataloging guidelines

Currently we have a small collection of books in Finnish, mainly for recreational reading. Fiction and poetry titles will be classed under the last name of the author, for example S\FIN Jansson. Non-fiction will be given a numerical call number, for example S\FIN 155. Biographies will be classed together with either 920 (collective biography) and the first word of the title, or 921 (individual biography) and then the last name of the subject; for example, S\FIN 920 Finland or S\FIN 921 Jansson.

See example records

The Finnish titles and author names, with English translations, are in the google doc Books from Finland. Use command-F and scan in the barcode to get to the correct line of translation. The Finnish and English titles and author names can be copied and pasted into the title record; do check the English for spelling accuracy.

Click on Add Title. New records are automatically created as RDA records.
