Amoeba

Amoeba proteus extending pseudopods (false feet). Large circular nucleus and vacuoles are pink in blue cytoplasm. These protozoa have numerous pseudopodia, or false feet, that project from their bodies. In order to move, the amoeba extends a pseudopod in the direction it wants to go, anchors it and pulls itself forward by contracting its cell body. The pseudopodia are also used to engulf food that is digested within the amoeba's vacuoles.
