Other social media

Besides the blogs, podcasts, online courses and Youtube videos included in this guide, information can also be found in other social media.  A number of musicians are on Twitter and have their own blogs or FaceBook pages.  Topsy.com is a new aggregator for social media - experiment with it using the suggested search terms and see what resources it results in.

Here is a list of other blogs that may be worth following and Bryan Townsend's blog - "The music salon" includes comments on classical music, popular culture, philosophy.

The rest is noise

Books, articles, and a blog by the music critic of The New Yorker, Alex Ross.  His first book, The Rest Is Noise: Listening to the Twentieth Century, won a National Book Critics Circle Award and the Guardian First Book Award, and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. He has also published an essay collection, Listen to This. Ross has received an Arts and Letters Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Belmont Prize in Germany, and a MacArthur Fellowship.
