What's a picture book?

Picture books are illustrated. Usually each page has a few lines of text but sometimes they are wordless.
Picture books are usually 32 pages long and have very few lines of text on each page. Usually less that 1000 words in a book.

A really good picture book will tell a simple story with the words and elaborate on that story with rich illustrations. Some picture books tell different stories in the words and illustrations.
