This unit will continue the work in expository that students were taught during unit 2. Students will select topics of interest using resources such as magazines, online articles, or non fiction texts. Students will focus on the reading skills necessary in research. This could include identifying relevant websites, and evaluating the quality of websites
Readers acquire knowledge and understanding about the world and infer ideas from non-fiction texts.
Authors have a purpose for writing and this influences what they write.
Non-fiction texts contain a topic and main idea.
Non fiction texts have recognisable structures that support reading.
